Join the #WalkFromHome movement

I recently posted on Twitter about my “fake commute”. The walk my husband I and take each morning before returning home to work. It’s been an absolute lifeline during the chaos of lockdown and I was pleased to learn that tweet inspired others to do the same.

So consider this your invite to join the #WalkFromHome movement! Share your photos on Twitter or Instagram using #WalkFromHome and let us know how you find it. I hope you love it as much as I do! Read on for more details of the benefits…

For most of the summer, my husband was getting busier and busier whilst I was adapted first to furlough and subsequently redundancy. That morning walk increased in importance to us both. It gave him a clear division between work and home; it kept me to a regular routine. I know there would have been days when I would have struggled to find a reason to get out of bed.

We discovered new places – apparently, we’re a five minute stroll from acres of countryside, who knew?! We’ve noticed the changing of the seasons and appreciated little changes from week to week. There has been a surprising amount of wildlife from the expected sparrows and rabbits, to the less expected buzzards and deer.

Since setting up Elevate, it has become my planning time and ensured I don’t jump straight on to the laptop each morning. I know it will be harder to keep it up as the weather gets colder and the mornings get darker so I’m hoping all our #WalkFromHome pictures will keep us all motivated.

Let me know how you find it!
