“Going Above and Beyond” was the service value of the Hotel brand I started my career with and it has stuck with me. It should be a standard in hospitality, given it’s a service industry, to leave a guest or client feeling you have done more than they expected but the key is it is genuine. It applies also to both career and personal development where for me, you get back what you put in!

For me it’s vital that the team are all pulling in the same direction. Anyone who has worked with me will know I love a plan! Even in these most uncertain times we have still taken the time to develop a 2021 Vision, Mission and Action Plan to achieve our goals. We also need to innovate! INNSiDE LiVE is a semi-permanent studio for Virtual / Hybrid events and content filming which we have installed within INNSiDE Manchester which is a perfect example of this.

Elevate Greater Manchester

As Hotels we rely heavily on visitors to the city through leisure or business tourism so traditionally the Hotel sector has always looked to work as collaboratively as possible to “sell the destination.” With challenging times still to come as we chart our way through an undoubted difficult few years where business source will have changed, we will have to come together even more so to elevate Greater Manchester as a destination for both leisure and business guests alike.

Scott is Cluster Director of Sales – UK North for Melia Hotels International.
