At Elevate, we believe in building relationships and understanding the people you would like to do business with. Every Friday we usually hear from our members answering our quick-fire questions. This week we hear from AJ Handley-Rowe from Salt.
• Best place for a business lunch: Exhibition, or for a birthday lunch, or general lunch, or every lunch. Great food, banging wine list and lovely staff. Just the right ambience too, not to stuffy and you can have great conversations
• Best advice you have been given: “Find out who you are and do it on purpose” Dolly Parton
• Favourite type of events? Something where I can learn or be inspired, whilst mixing with like-minded people with interesting perspectives to share. No speed networking or soggy bacon butties, that’s why Elevate appealed to me and it absolutely hasn’t disappointed so far.
• Where will we find you outside of work? Most likely in my campervan Mary Jane, with my toddler, dog and husband. Exploring the UK’s coastline or taking her on European adventures.
• Favourite book? A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. A masterclass in character and episodic writing. Bring tissues.
• Places outside of GM to visit? Cornwall, any time of year, with anyone. It has my heart and is part of the reason we’re called salt.
Bonus questions: favourite thing about the Greater Manchester business community? It’s creativity, flair and ‘get shit done’ attitude. There’s no city I’d rather do business in and not a week goes by where I’m not stopped in my tracks by some cracking work, a really talented person, some art or a community initiative, just to name a few.
