Manchester-based business development consultancy, Elevate, has announced its upcoming Northern Sustainability Summit, which is set to take place at Manchester Central on Monday 12th June 2023.

Throughout the day, representatives from Electricity North West, The Growth Company, The Carbon Literacy Project, Syngenta and other leading organisations will share sustainability insights from across the hospitality, sustainable tourism, transport, investment and supply chain sectors.

Confirmed speakers include Mara Rastall, CEO of Enspec Power, Amer Gaffer, Director of Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre, and Lucy Noone-Blake, founder of Pear. The event will feature a panel from the Green Economy and the SMEs benefitting from their Journey to Net Zero programme.

According to figures from the ONS at the end of 2022, 30% of businesses reported taking no action to reduce their carbon emissions, despite the UK’s net zero target moving ever closer. This event will bring together businesses across the North that are leading the charge on sustainability and connect them with those who are looking to take their first steps on the journey, to provide Northern businesses the tools they need to make positive change, and continue the region’s mission to uphold sustainable business innovation across the UK.

Speaking on the event, Co-Founder and Director of Elevate, Ilona Alcock said: “We’re incredibly lucky that the North is home to so many exciting businesses that show a genuine commitment to sustainability. From aligning themselves with the Green Claims Code and communicating their sustainable values to their customers, there’s so many businesses across the North engaging with sustainability in the right way.

“Bringing these businesses together, at our first Northern Sustainability Summit, so that they can share their wisdom, will only boost our region’s reputation as a powerhouse for sustainability. The more we can connect businesses and encourage them to share their work and learnings around sustainable practices, the better.”

The Northern Sustainability Summit will be partnered by Manchester Central, national PR agency The PHA Group and net zero support organisation Play It Green.
